Extra Chromie Fest Has Been Postponed!
We had to have some tough conversations with medical professionals and the Denton Department of Public Health yesterday, and our board of directors has decided it would be the most responsible decision to postpone Extra Chromie Fest. We’ve made this decision due to the spreading concerns of COVID-19. The safety and well-being of our exhibitors, volunteers and participants is our highest priority and we felt it is unnecessary to take on any possible risk. It is common for individuals with Down syndrome to have a compromised immune system which makes us extra cautious in this area. So, this is the face Helen gave us when we told her we needed to postpone. Don’t worry, we’ll reschedule in the near future and our vendors are still on board! Thank you to everyone who has supported us this far, and keep a lookout for a new date!
Extra Chromie Fest is a one of a kind festival where the feature vendors are businesses ran by, employ or support individuals with Down syndrome. Complete with live music, food, vendors and activities for the whole family, this event is FREE to the public and 100% of the 2020 event proceeds will go to support the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network (DSDN) and Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas (DPNT).

Our first ever Extra Chromie Fest was a huge success. With more than 400 people in attendance we were able to raise almost $8,000 through event activities. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us.

While not an official event of the Extra Chromie Club it was the first Ds awareness event we attended since Helen was born. It made a lasting impact on us and was a big contributor for our desire to form the Extra Chromie Club.
